Rand Paul Offers His Opinion on Possible Mitt Romney Candidacy in 2016
Mitt Romney has run for president twice, and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul thinks that’s enough. In a recent interview with the Daily Signal, Paul noted that Romney had previously failed to “attract a big enough constituency to win…I think he’s had his chance,” said Paul, “and I think it’s time for some fresh blood.”
Just who he believes should provide that “fresh blood” was evident in a recent Tweet by the senator:
Romney, who was the Republican nominee in 2012 but lost to President Obama, told potential donors he is interested in running again. He has since been on the phone to former aides, telling them he will “almost certainly” run.
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has also confirmed his interest in running, and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has resigned his job at Fox News to explore another run. Paul is running for re-election to the Senate, and if he does run for president, he will be campaigning for both offices simultaneously.
