Trump Spending Less Than Obama
Financial conservatives, rejoice: President Donald Trump is tightening the purse strings, and he’s starting at the White House.
According to The Daily Caller, the Trump administration is spending $5.1 million less on White House salaries than the former administration did.
Government transparency organization Open the Books published the data June 30. It showed that the Trump administration spent $35.8 million compared with $40.9 million for the Obama administration in 2015.
“At the nation’s founding, Ben Franklin said, ‘Diligence is the mother of good luck,’” wrote Open the Books CEO Adam Andrzejewski in an article for Forbes. “Although the White House personnel budget is an infinitesimal part of the $3.9 trillion federal budget, it could be a leading indicator of Trump’s commitment to cut waste, fraud and taxpayer abuse.”
Among the details Open the Books noted was that the Trump administration employed 110 less people than the Obama administration did in the White House. One of the big areas of saving was when it came to the first lady. Michelle Obama had no less than 22 employees dedicated to her. Melania Trump, meanwhile, only has five — a decrease of 19 employees burning taxpayer money on the federal payroll.
Another area of savings: so-called “czars.”
