Why Donald Trump’s Rise is a Warning Sign for America

Why is Donald Trump getting so much attention in the 2016 Presidential race?
I think there’s a dark and potentially dangerous force behind his rise to power.
According to a Quinnipiac University poll, Trump is leading the Republican field, with 20% of the vote. His next closest competitor is Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, with a 13% share.
This is not the first time Trump has entered the political fray. The outspoken billionaire floated the idea of running for President in 1988, 2004 and 2012. But each time, he dropped out without becoming a serious candidate.
This time appears to be different.
And pundits on both sides of the aisle are stunned by his success.
But I don’t find his popularity surprising at all…
You see, Trump is the ultimate “strongman” candidate. His take-charge spirit and willingness to say outrageous things – where others might bite their tongue – has drawn the interest of millions of Americans, who hang on his every word.
To many who are frustrated by our government, he’s a breath of fresh air. But his rise to power is a scary development with potentially dire consequences for our country.
Historically, strongmen like Trump have dominated elections in times of struggle – when there’s a mass desire for someone – anyone – to take control and fix what’s wrong with a nation.
In France it was Napoleon Bonaparte. In Venezuela it was Hugo Chavez.
Today, it’s Vladimir Putin in Russia.
Obviously, Trump is not a criminal. But he has many of the same positive and potentially dangerous qualities that propelled these “strongmen” to power. All of them were popular with voters who desperately wanted some to “fix” the country’s problems. All of them promised to wipe away corruption and right the wrongs of society by any means necessary. But in each case, their election foreshadowed a major crisis.
So, will Trump be elected in 2016? It’s too early to tell. But the simple fact that millions of Americans are willing to embrace such a “strongman” candidate should be a wake up call for anyone concerned about their money or their retirement.
In fact, 12-term Congressman Dr. Ron Paul is so concerned about the situation, he says:
Dr. Paul continued: “If the economy deteriorates further, someone like Trump could do quite well. But I strongly believe he’d abuse the executive power.”
Regardless of whether you support Trump or not – it’s important you understand the forces that have propelled him to first place in the polls… and the brewing economic crisis that’s transformed him from a political outsider to a front-runner in the race for the White House.
We are so concerned about another major financial crisis in America, we recently sat down for an in-depth conversation with Dr. Ron Paul. We asked him about America’s biggest problems… what the next crisis will look like… and what you can do to protect yourself and your family.
To get Dr. Paul’s full take on the subject, including the #1 step you can take to protect yourself from economic turmoil in the months ahead, watch Dr. Paul’s video (or read the transcript), both available for free on our website, right here…
